Invention History
A culmination of 11 years of dedicated product research and development, the Protex iFS was invented, by Mr. Wayne Callen, Protex’s Director of Research and Technology.
Mr. Callen created the Protex iFS after hearing of a child’s near electrocution in a bath. A new home equipped with working safety switches (RCD), the plastic bath had no return path to earth for the safety switch to operate. Mr. Callen set about inventing a safety switch that did not rely on an earth path.
The Protex iFS has evolved from an idea, to the fully operational and proven Protex EDS (Electrical Distribution System) installed in a purpose built two-storey house.

The Protex iFS has evolved into a sophisticated electronic device now miniaturized by a ceramics manufacturing technology -a technique which provides for more robust construction, safer and more reliable operational outcomes;
Protectelec gained entry to the Australian Innovation Showcase and is a COMET grant recipient from the Australian Federal Government.
