Protex iFS Technical Overview
Fail safe & faster alternative to traditional Safety Switch (RCD / GFCI)![]()
Protex iFS is a residual voltage device, which detects fault voltages that can occur during the operation of electrical equipment.
Three volts is enough to trigger the Protex iFS and isolate the circuit. Operating in 8 milliseconds and at 5 milliamps Protex iFS is more than five times (5x) faster than the traditional Safety Switch (RCD).
Traditional RCD safety switches detect a current imbalance to earth; it is often difficult and time consuming to establish, test and maintain an earth connection on a generator or an inverter.
Protex iFS Technical Features:
| Operation Speed: | 8 milliseconds |
| Operation amps | 5 milliamps; |
| Operation Frequency: | 50 – 60Hz |
| Fault current: | Nil |
| Fault detection | Fault voltages from 3 volts |
| Mains voltage detection: | Detects mains voltage of either 110V or 240V and adjusts |
| Self testing & Fail Safe operation: | Self monitoring of internal components. If a component failure is detected the IFS is isolated. |
| Active & Neutral fault detection: | Detect faults on either active or neutral |
| Equipment Integration: | Tough ceramic coating prevents heat, dust and water ingress. |
| Electronic circuitry: | Enables communication integration, source power voltage detection and fail-safe protection. |
| International Standards: | Developed to international standards and protocols |
